  • Über Künstler
    Marcel Wanders (Boxtel, 1963) ist international bekannt für sein Produkt-, Möbel- und Interieurdesign sowie seine Art Direction. Er schloss 1988 sein Studium an der Hogeschool voor de Kunsten (heute ArtEZ) in Arnheim cum laude ab, nachdem er von der Eindhovener Design Academy verwiesen worden war. 1995 eröffnete er sein Studio in Amsterdam und erlangte 1996 schnell weltweite Aufmerksamkeit für seinen Knotted Chair, in dem ein High-Tech-Material mit einer Low-Tech-Makrame Technik kombiniert wird. Seit 2001 arbeitet Wanders auch als Art Director für das erfolgreiche Interior-Label Moooi, dessen Miteigentümer er ist. Heute haben seine traumhaften Entwürfe, die sich auf bekannte Stile aus der Vergangenheit beziehen, vor allem im Ausland Erfolg und er arbeitet für international bekannte Marken wie Alessi, Moroso, KLM, Swarovski, Marks & Spencer, Puma, Kartell. Darüber hinaus hat Wanders an Innenraumprojekten wie dem VIP-Raum des niederländischen Pavillons auf der Weltausstellung in Hannover (2000), dem Mondrian Hotel Miami (2008) und dem Andaz Amsterdam Prinsengracht Hotel (2012) gearbeitet.
