    Keller was 'professor of sculpture' at the Glasgow School of Art in 1898.
    Born in the Hague, the success of his father's novels enabled him to study in Amsterdam and Brussels under Professor Allebé and Charles Van de Stappen.
    He travelled widely in Italy and he settled briefly in Paris where he worked for a waxworks and exhibited at the Salon in 1896. Two years later Keller moved to Glasgow, where he was a key exponent of the Glasgow Style. He was invited to became 'teacher of sculpture' at the Glasgow School of Art in 1898 . From 1900-1910 he was ‘professor of modelling’ at the same School.
    Later he returned to Holland where he spent the latter part of his life.

    Johan Keller war ein niederländischer Künstler, der 1863 in Den Haag in die Familie eines Schriftstellers geboren wurde. Als seine Eltern gebeten wurden, ihn aus der Schule zu nehmen, weil er sein Studium mit Kritzeleien im Unterricht verschwendet hatte. Der Erfolg der Romane seines Vaters war der Grund, warum Keller in Amsterdam und Brüssel Kunst studieren und auch nach Italien und Frankreich reisen konnte. Zu Kellers früheren Arbeiten gehört eine Sandsteinstatue für das Museum Booijmans in Rotterdam. Er nahm eine Lehrstelle an der Akademie der bildenden Künste in Glasgow an und erhielt den Dekorationsplan für viele berühmte Architektengebäude. Keller lebte in den letzten Jahren seines Lebens in den Niederlanden und starb 1944.
