Auguste François Julien Herbin ( 1783, Paris – 1806) was a French orientalist. He excelled in the oriental languages at a very early age. He published an Arabic grammar Développements des principes de la langue Arabe moderne (Developments of the principles of the modern Arab language) in Paris in 1803. This grammar also contained several Arabic texts: some fables of Luqman, Arabic proverbs, etc, and an essay on Arabic calligraphy. Herbin produced an Arabic-French dictionary too, and a History of Persian poets.
