About the artist

The sculptor Floyd Tennison DeWitt grew up in Eastern Montana. In his younger years he considered himself a kind of ‘Cowboy Artist’ with his focus on Western Art. Later on Tennison DeWitt was educated at the Minneapolis School of Art and Design and the National Academy of Fine Arts in Amsterdam. During this time, he became aware that sculpture itself is a language, a language he describes as ‘the silent language of form’.
His bronze sculptures mostly depict animals and the human figure. His work distinguishes itself in fusion of abstract design combined with the intense study of nature and realism. In his sculptures lies the true spirit of the transformation of nature in art.
