About the artist

Louis Schutte was Dutch-born painter (1904), but he was known to often travel abroad, for the purpose of inspiration. Schutte was educated at the Amsterdam Academy of Arts, of Hendrik Wolter among others. Wolter turned out to be a great source of inspiration of him as well. Schutte later specialized in the depiction of market scenes and parks, often crowded with people. In addition to being a painter, he was a skilled illustrator as well. From 1929 to 1933 Schutte had the privilege to receive a royal subsidy. He also was a member of Arti Amicitae in Amsterdam. Schutte passed away in 1979.
