About the artist

Richard Reimans was a Dutch painter, born in Maastricht on 9 June 1882. He died in Paris on 1 May 1959. He enrolled in the Académie des Beaux-Arts in Amsterdam, where he studied the painters of the Dutch and Flemish masters of the 17th century. There, he was apprenticed to Allebé, Dake and Lienhof. At the age of 20, Reimans moved to Paris, where he studied under Léon Bonnat. Reimans frequently painted in Béarn, Picardie and the Bourgogne. Among his subjects were portraits, landscapes and religious motifs.
