About the artist

Rik Slabbinck was a Belgian artist. He attended school at the Academy at Bruges and St Lucas in Ghent. One of his tutors was Constant Permeke. He had his first solo exhibition in 1936 followed by one in the Museum voor Schone Kunsten in Brussel. In 1945 he was one of the co-founders of La Jeune Peinture Belge but withdrew in 1947.
Slabbinck is known for his landscapes, nudes, portraits and still lifes.
