    A Dutch silver fish slice made by Hendrik Swierink.

    Hendrik Swierink was born in Zwolle in 1693 and became silversmith in Amsterdam in 1726. In 1733 he married Catharina van Huet. The couple lived at Rozengracht, Amsterdam and had two children. Their son Barend, who also became a silversmith, married in 1772, when his father Hendrik had died.
  • About the artist
    Hendrik Swierink was a Dutch manufacturer of silverware. Swierink was born in the city of Zwolle, The Netherlands, in 1693. He was known to produce his objects from the year of 1726 and onwards. His working life concentrated in and around the Dutch city of Amsterdam where silver was very much in demand, a movement that reflects the wealth of the city during those years. Throughout his life, Swierink remained in Amsterdam until his death in the year of 1767.
