Anke Classen, Dutch painter and illustrator living in the South of France since 1979, was educated at Arnhem's art academy. She knows many disciplines, but she works mainly with acrylic on canvas, with brushes, palettte knives and pieces of wood. Sometimes she also works on paper or cardboard. Her favorite colour schemes are currently browns, gray and white and now and then a touch of red. She is interested in image rhythm: stripes, shadows and reflections, elements that play an essential role in composition and use of colour.
