  • About the artwork
Anke Classen, Dutch painter and illustrator living in the South of France since 1979, was educated at Arnhem's art academy. She knows many disciplines, but she works mainly with acrylic on canvas, with brushes, palettte knives and pieces of wood. Sometimes she also works on paper or cardboard. Her favorite colour schemes are currently browns, gray and white and now and then a touch of red. She is interested in image rhythm: stripes, shadows and reflections, elements that play an essential role in composition and use of colour. Anke shows in our gallery a beautiful selection of her delightful interiors.
  • About the artist

Anke Classen was born in the Dutch city of Arnhem in 1957. She studied at the Art Academy of ArtEZ in the same city. Since 1979 she has been living and working in Southern France as a paintress and an illustrator of children's books and book covers. A number of murals of her hand can be discovered in the Haute Savoie. Anke works in many ways, but mainly concentrates on using acrylic paint on canvas.

Her work does not possess any intellectual messages of concepts. Instead, she gets her inspiration from visual things such as rythm of images or reflections.
