- About the artworkMarieke Geerlings is a contemporary Dutch ceramist. In the summer of 2017, her work is shown at the Venice Biennale, alongside works of Jeff Koons and other internationally renowned artists. Geerlings studied at Artemis Amsterdam from 1988 to 1990 and at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy from 1995 to 2000. She is a member of the Dutch Society of Sculptors. She works with clay, expressing her thoughts and outlook, ‘her world’, with her hands. “When what I see fuses with my world if ideas, the image is born”, Geerlings says.
