Willy Boers is a Dutch artist who was born in Amsterdam in 1905, he died in Amsterdam in 1978. He was trained as a restorer but became a self-taught painter, draughtsman and sculptor. Willy also created portraits, landscapes, cityscapes, still-lifes and abstract art. He signed his work with ‘WBoers’. He was a member of the Haagse Kunstkring until 1940 and between 1929 and 1941 he joined the art society De Onafhankelijken.
In 1946 he established, along with Ger Gerrits, the group Vrij Beelden which included the artists Willem van Hussem, Piet Ouborg and Jan Roëde.
In 1950 he set up the group Creatie. His work is included in the collections of the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam and Cobra Museum in Amstelveen.
