- About the artist
Johan Roempler was a painter of both German and French descend. He was born in Germany, 1898. After spending his entire childhood in Germany, Roempler and his family had to flee their home country in order to escape Hitler's regime. This is why Roempler settled in Paris in 1938. He remained living and working in Paris until he passed away in 1967.
He signed the paintings he produced during his lifetime with the pseudonym of 'Jever', thus his fame had grown to be associated with this name.
