Reference: vL. 481-2 - Sobre el artistaPeter van Abeele fue un medallista y acuñador holandés, activo en Ámsterdam en el siglo XVII. Van Abeele nació en Middelburg, Zelanda. Perfeccionó la técnica de presionar medallas huecas. Creó los dos lados de la medalla por separado y los combinó con un anillo de metal. Se dice que sus obras son las mejores de su tiempo y consisten principalmente en medallas conmemorativas y retratos. Representan a varios miembros de la Casa de Orange, el almirante Maarten Tromp, Jan Wolfert van Brederode, Carlos X de Suecia y Carlos II de Inglaterra. También realizó medallas conmemorativas por la destrucción de la flota inglesa y la paz de 1667, así como una que muestra la concesión del escudo de armas a la ciudad de Amsterdam por el conde Guillermo II de Holanda y el emperador Maximiliano I. Murió en Amsterdam. en 1684.
