- Sobre la obra de arteThe merchant and painter Simon van Brakel (1816-1884) was a member of the artistsociety Pictura and belonged to the School of Dordrecht, dominated by the painter J.C. Schotel. As a painter Simon was taught by his father Gerrit van Brakel, also a merchant as well as a painter of seascapes and member of Pictura as well. Oil on panel, signed.
- Sobre el artistaSimon van Brakel fue un pintor de origen holandés, nacido el 24 de diciembre de 1816 en Dordrecht, Países Bajos. Era conocido como comerciante y pintor. Los temas favoritos de su mano incluyen paisajes marinos, barcos y vistas al río. En 1869, la obra de van Brakels se exhibió en la Exposition générale des Beaux Arts. Van Brakel vivió en la ciudad de Dordrecht toda su vida y murió el 5 de febrero de 1884.
