- Sobre el artistaGerhard (Gerrit) Christiaan Haverkamp nació el 15 de junio de 1872. Se dice que fue educado en la Escuela de Dibujo Felix Meritis de Amsterdam. Después de su graduación, trabajó junto con el litógrafo Maurits Willem van der Valk (1857-1935). En el campo de la pintura fue un autodidacta. Utilizó con mayor frecuencia pintura al óleo y acuarelas en sus pinturas, e hizo sus dibujos a lápiz, crayón o tinta. Los temas de su preferencia fueron principalmente paisajes y la arquitectura de los Países Bajos. Otro tema suyo fueron las iglesias y los interiores de las iglesias. Aunque también existen algunos retratos de su mano, Haverkamp usó figuras humanas y animales con mayor frecuencia para equilibrar sus representaciones de arquitectura o paisajes. Haverkamp falleció en 1926.
