Frederick Hendrik Mondriaan, también conocido como Frits Mondriaan, era tío del famoso artista Piet Mondriaan. Fue pintor de casas hasta que se convirtió en artista en 1885. Su obra es al estilo de la escuela de La Haya y en su mayoría son paisajes. Visitaba a menudo a su hermano Pieter Cornelis Mondriaan y cuando lo hacía ayudaba a Piet Mondriaan con su dibujo de estudio. Más tarde, en 1905, también enseñó a Theresa van Raalte.
