Tall vase by Daum Nancy with a fishnet decor, this vase with this decor was made between 1919 and 1923. The vase is mouth-blown of double-layered clear glass (cover glass), between the two layers the motif is applied in the colors green and blue with gold leaf. A blue border is applied to the neck and the foot. The signature is applied with the wheel, "Daum Nancy" and the Lorraine cross, the vase has a pontil mark on the bottom of the vase. In the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Nancy, there are 2 vases and a coupe with the same decor.

Daum è uno studio di cristallo nella città di Nancy, in Francia. È stata fondata nel 1878 da Jean Daum (1825-1885). I suoi figli, Auguste Daum (1853–1909) e Antonin Daum (1864–1931), supervisionarono il suo crescente successo durante il fiorente periodo Art Nouveau. Attualmente Daum è l'unico produttore commerciale di cristalli che impiega il processo di pâte de verre (pasta di vetro) per sculture in vetro artistico e cristallo, una tecnica in cui il vetro frantumato viene confezionato in uno stampo refrattario e quindi fuso in un forno. Durante l'Esposizione Universale del 1900 Daum fu insignita della medaglia "Grand Prix". Il vetro Daum è diventato più elaborato, l'incisione con acido (di Jacques Gruber) è stata spesso combinata con l'intaglio, la smaltatura e l'incisione su un singolo pezzo di vetro per produrre capolavori di vetro creativi. Le creazioni più complicate presentano anche elementi in vetro applicati, come maniglie e motivi ornamentali in forme naturalistiche. I fratelli Daum passarono rapidamente a diventare una delle maggiori forze del movimento Art Nouveau, rivaleggiando seriamente con Gallé, tanto che quando Émile Gallé morì nel 1904 divennero i leader nel campo del vetro decorativo. Nel 1906 Daum fece rivivere la pâte de verre (pasta di vetro), un antico metodo egiziano di fusione del vetro, sviluppando il metodo in modo che negli anni '30 i pannelli delle finestre di Daum usassero la pâte de verre per la ricchezza invece del vetro piombato o dipinto. Oggi Daum usava ancora questo metodo per produrre i propri pezzi.
