  Memories and emotions from the past come together and form the present. Waves of experiences that continuously deliver a new essence and visualization. How the world is seen, but also how the world sees you. Sometimes transparent, sometimes reflective, with tension, closed, but always layered—multiple levels of awareness.
  
  Yoshiko Okada’s artworks are characterized by their emotional depth. Her Japanese background can be clearly seen and felt. Combined with European influences and memories, she is able to evoke tensions and reflections that recur in her works. But the absolute refinement, tranquillity and harmony create a synergy that produces true worldwide recognized masterpieces.
  
  ‘Distance between (II)’ is a kiln cast and made of optical glass. The images on the glass are sandblasted. The yellow-orange pattern gives the image a varied effect and is reminiscent of the rising Japanese sun. Together with the light and the viewing angle, reflections are created in and around the image, which gives a continuously different experience. The edition is 4, of which 1 is an artist’s copy.

  Yoshiko Okada è nata a Tokyo in Giappone nel 1972. Dal 1990 al 1992 ha studiato design di abbigliamento e kimono al Seitoku Technical College in Giappone, prima di approdare nel Regno Unito nel 1995. Dopo una lunga formazione studiando incisione e vetrate, Yoshiko si è laureata in tre -design dimensionale e vetro del Surrey Institute of Art and Design nel 2004. Yoshiko lavora dal suo studio a Londra e lavora principalmente con vetro formato in forno, utilizzando forme semplici simbolicamente legate al pezzo, spesso con piccoli elementi simili a gioielli. La sua ispirazione viene dal suo background giapponese insieme alla sua esperienza personale della cultura occidentale. Una narrazione personale attraversa il suo lavoro.

  'Il mio lavoro continua ad esplorare il background e le esperienze giapponesi, e la mia attuale situazione inglese ed europea. Esplora la sinergia e i paradossi che queste diverse influenze creano quando vengono messe insieme in un'identità, uno stile di vita e una coscienza. Ho lavorato con il vetro fuso in forno concentrandomi su forme di semplicità.'
