    Beautiful work on paper by the Dutch painter Armand Bouten. He has portrayed his wife, the artist Han Korevaar, naked in her interior in an almost touching and loving way. His use of color is so beautiful and atmospheric. A special detail is also the bony cats, on top of the table. Cats can often be found in his paintings. Watercolor and pencil on paper, signed in blue lower right with 'Bouten'. The work is framed behind museum glass and provided with a new frame with acid-free cardboard backing.     Armand Bouten viveva nella zona di Pijp ad Amsterdam. Si affermò come abile disegnatore e pittore. Nel 1920, Bouten fece un giro dell'Europa orientale, dove produsse acquerelli e gouache di zingari e fiere contadine. Queste opere su carta erano facili da portare con sé nei suoi viaggi in giro per l'Europa. Il periodo dell'espressionismo di Bouten negli anni dal 1917 al 1919 - forme monumentali e colori scintillanti / luminosi - è cambiato in un ambito per elementi futuristici e una tavolozza più vivace dopo i suoi viaggi. I temi e i soggetti che ha raffigurato sono cambiati anche dopo il suo ritorno ad Amsterdam, quando ha iniziato a concentrarsi sulle scene di vita notturna. Il suo lavoro ha molte somiglianze con quello dell'artista tedesco Georg Grosz (1893-1959), sebbene l'approccio di Bouten sia diverso in quanto non ha mai avuto intenzione di esprimere giudizi sui suoi soggetti.
