A mother with child, a classic theme. Yet it is very clever how the artist manages to convey the intimacy and love that the mother feels for her child. The mother's downcast eyes, her big hand, she flatters the child against her face and hugs it. A moving bronze, André Belo is the French sculptor who made this bronze, it is probably a work from the 1950s. Condition: Excellent, the pedestal is not original. The work is signed on the back with 'Belo'.
A proposito di opere artista
André Belo (André Belol Dil), Parigi, 1908-1976, ha sviluppato un interesse per la scultura in tenera età, vedendola come la sua vocazione. All'Accademia fu allievo di Jean Boucher e Aristide Maillol. Successivamente ha anche insegnato all'École des Arts Appliques ed è stato membro del comitato di ammissione all'École des Beaux-Arts.
Oltre alle sue sculture e bassorilievi, disegnò anche medaglie speciali per Erik Satie e Charles Dullin. Espone al Salon de la Jeune Sculpture dal 1945 ai primi anni '70.
André Belo è noto per le sue linee moderne, al confine tra figurazione, surrealismo e astrazione. Ha un bel modo di disegnare, si è ispirato ad artisti come Laurens e Brancusi.
Il tema principale della sua opera è l'uomo, e soprattutto la donna, in tutte le sue dimensioni, come in questo bronzetto, in cui la donna può essere vista come madre. L'amore della madre è così chiaramente e magnificamente mostrato.
Inoltre, ha anche ritratto alcuni animali, come il suo uccello di fuoco, una cui versione in bronzo è inclusa nella collezione del Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris.
