Over de kunstenaar
At first glance, Rik Vandewege does not seem to be easily able to reveal his own identity. After all, in the range of the visual arts, he opens up the most diverse registers. Spatial sculptures, which are morphologically highly diversified, archaic pots, with unadulterated authenticity and seemingly lyrical abstract paintings. The three art branches, which Vandewege practises, seem to evolve totally independently of each other, and yet they possess a common dimension. The work of Rik Vandewege matures, has a past history, a philosophical dressing, which never imposes itself, but is always hidden in his works.
