Cecile de Bruijn (1950) is a self-taught dutch painter who has been living in France for 30 years. She works with acrylic, collages and silk screens. Subjects like stylized women figures, animals and primitive South African symbols are frequently represented in her work.

She is inspired by the famous artists Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Francis Bacon, Amadeo Modigliani and Frida Kahlo. Other sources of inspiration are the tango music of Astor Piazolla, the Jazz of Keith Jarrett and the extraordinary music of Chick Corea. Her dog Pablo is frequently portrayed in her work.
