Hendrick Goltzius

The German-born printmaker, draftsman and painter Hendrick Goltzius was the leading engraver of the Netherlands around 1600. With a characterised style of complex compositions and figures with exaggerated physiques and comparatively small heads he introduced mannerist art to the Netherlands. Goltzius is noted for sophisticated technique and brilliance of his engravings.
