Over de kunstenaar

Paul Rink, or in full Paulus Philippus Rink was born on the 25th of December 1861 in Veghel, The Netherlands. He died on the second of september in 1903 in Edam.
Paul Rink is known as a Dutch painter, specialized in watercolors, drawings and copying.
Rink was first taught how to paint by his grandfather in Oosterhout.
He also worked as a student under the wings of painter Barent J.C. Weingärtner and afterwards he was educated at art academies in both The Hague and Antwerp. During his time in The Hague Paul Rink was also a student of Nicolaas van der Waay.
In Rink's younger years worked with painters including Vincent van Gogh.
It was in 1887 that Paul Rink received the Prix de Rome in Amsterdam, this paid for his study trips to Italy, Northern Africa, Spain and France.
He married fellow artist Cornelia Gerardina Boellaard in 1899 who became one of his students later on.
In the last years of his life, Paul Rink lived in Edam where he was fascinated by the lively surroundings in and around the sea.
In 1903 Paul Rink was laid to rest in Edam.
