  • Over kunstenaar

    Marcel Wanders (Boxtel, 1963) is internationaal bekend om zijn product-, meubel- en interieurontwerp en kunstrichting. Hij studeerde in 1988 cum laude af aan de Hogeschool voor de Kunsten (nu ArtEZ) in Arnhem, nadat hij was verbannen van de Eindhovense Design Academy. In 1995 opent hij zijn atelier in Amsterdam en in 1996 komt hij al snel wereldwijd in de belangstelling voor zijn Knotted Chair, waarin een hightech materiaal wordt gecombineerd met een low-tech macramé techniek. Sinds 2001 werkt Wanders ook als art director voor Moooi, het succesvolle interieurlabel waarvan hij mede-eigenaar is. Tegenwoordig hebben zijn droomachtige ontwerpen, die verwijzen naar bekende stijlen uit het verleden, vooral in het buitenland veel succes en werkt hij voor internationaal gerenommeerde merken als Alessi, Moroso, KLM, Swarovski, Marks & Spencer, Puma, Kartell. Daarnaast heeft Wanders gewerkt aan interieurprojecten zoals de VIP-zaal van het Nederlandse paviljoen op de Wereldtentoonstelling in Hannover (2000), het Mondriaan Hotel Miami (2008) en het Andaz Amsterdam Prinsengracht Hotel (2012).
