  • About the artwork
    Artist: Costum debiest
    Title: Shopping addict
    Technique: mixed media
    Size: 150x100cm

The artwork “Shopping addict” by Costum Debiest features a woman with a cage on her head and hair blowing around her. The image suggests a criticism of consumer society and the obsession with luxury brands, represented by famous fashion brands. The presence of figurative bird images around the female figure can be interpreted as a representation of the freedom lost when one becomes a victim of rampant consumerism. The mixed media technique used in the piece creates an interesting texture, with abstract and figurative elements combined in a dynamic and provocative composition. “Shopping addict” is an artwork that questions the values of contemporary society and the impact of consumerism on our lives. With dimensions of 150x100cm, the piece will certainly grab the viewer’s attention and provoke important reflections.
  • About the artist

Max van Alphen, born in 1975 in Tilburg, started creating paintings with charcoal, chalk and oil paint in 2000. Over time he turned to graffiti and airbrush art. In recent years he has also delved into photo (pop) art, using acrylic paint, professional spray cans, paint rollers, molds and stencils. He mastered most of these techniques through self-study. He finds his inspiration in everyday things.

His primary focus is on capturing works of art through luxury airbrush art. He also applies modern photo art techniques with rich color palettes to create unique dream images. Max works on his works of art impulsively and without a preconceived plan. It is always a challenge for him to effectively realize the images that arise in his head on canvas or another surface.
