Dirk Johannes (Dirk) van Haaren was a Dutch painter, born in Amsterdam on 21 April 1878. He died in Amsterdam on 30 June 1953. Van Haaren lived and worked in Amsterdam and Sloten. He was a self-taught artist who created watercolours and oil paintings. Among his subjects were polder landscapes, often displaying water, windmills and cattle. He also painted cityscapes of Amsterdam and mounted riders. He was a member of the art societies Arti et Amicitiae and the Sint-Lucasgilde, both situated in Amsterdam.
