Hendrik Manfries Haus was born in The Hague in 1803 and moved in 1837. He has become known for his ice scenes with ice skates and lively summer landscapes. His source of inspiration regarding summer and winter landscapes came from his colleague painter and contemporary Andres Schelfhoudt.
