Sul l'artista
Anthonie Palamedesz è nato nel 1601. Era un pittore olandese. Palamedesz dipinse principalmente ritratti e opere di genere, mentre suo fratello Palamedes Palamedesz era un pittore di scene di battaglia. Anthonie Palamedesz fu apprendista nello studio di Michiel Jansz. van Mierevelt e Hans Jordaens e si unì alla Gilda di San Luca di Delft già nel 1621. Si sposò due volte ed ebbe quattro figli. I suoi allievi furono suo fratello minore Palamedes, suo figlio Palamedes II e Ludolf de Jongh. Anthonie morì ad Amsterdam nel 1673.
