Era un pittore murale, grafico, decoratore, pittore e designer olandese. Brema iniziò con dipinti decorativi e in seguito iniziò a dipingere paesaggi e figure. Sposò Lizzy Schouten con la quale aveva uno studio. Brema ha lavorato dal 1885 al 1938 in Olanda ma anche a Parigi e Bruxelles. È stato membro dell'associazione Saint Lucas e dell'Arti et Amicitae di Amsterdam, il club di pittori Gooische "The Ten". Co Breman morì a Laren nel 1938.
