Alexander Ross

Alexander Ross was born around the year 1590. In 1604 he entered King's College, Aberdeen. He became known as a profilic Scottish writer and controversialist. Ross's most significant accomplishment was published in 1649: a translation of 'L'Alcoran de Mahomet'; this translation was the first in English and has been of influence of many later translations. Ross passed away in 1654.
