About the artist
Ferry Slebe was a Dutch watercolourist, graphic artist and painter. He also was a teacher at the Vrije Academie (Free Academy) and Vrije Studio, The Hague. He himself was taught at the Koninklijke Academie van Beeldende Kunsten (Royal Academy of Fine Arts), The Hague. He was a pupil of Bon Ingenhousz, Henk Meijer and Cornelis Rol. He was a member of the artist associations Haagse Kunstkring and Pulchri Studio, also in The Hague. In 1951, Slebe joined Verve, an artist group that can be seen as the Hague answer to Cobra. His work is now to be seen in the Gemeentemuseum.
