About the artist

Frits J. Goosen (13 December 1943, Hilversum) is one of the leading impressionist painters of the moment. He drew and painted at a young age and was regularly allowed to visit the studio of the painter Stephen Kip who lived nearby.

The financial situation at home did not allow for an education in that direction. Frits Goosen has taught himself painting over the years: he is an autodidact. After school he fulfilled his military service as a signaller in the navy.

F. J. Goosen then joined the boat carrier O. Hansen & Zn. in Amsterdam where he worked for 11 years. Drawing and painting remained his great passion and in 1976 he took the step to become a professional painter.
