About the artist

Gustave-Roger Sandoz was a French firm of goldsmiths, jewellers and watchmakers in Paris. Sandoz was founded in 1865 by Gustave Sandoz (1836 -1891). From 1981 onwards his son Gustave-Roger Sandoz (1867 - 1942) ruled te company, who is known to have established a shop at the Rue Royale. Gustave-Roger is most known because of a collaboration with Emile Gallé and his display of Art Nouveau works at the Paris 1900 exhibition. In 1920 Roger's son Gérard (1902 - 1995) joined the company as well and the firm was renamed Gustave-Roger Sandoz Fils & Successeur. The firm closed in 1931.
