About the artist
Jack Hamel was a dynamic artist who painted all over the world. During his trips to Corsica, Italy and Indonesia, he became influenced by the bright colour of the light.
He painted cities and ports, nudes and portraits.
When he wasn't working, he stayed in Amsterdam, Zandvoort, Apeldoorn and Laren. He was a pupil at the Haagse Academie. His father Willem Hamel (1860-1924) was a well known animal painter from the Hague School.
