The painter Klaas van Vliet was born on August 21, 1841 in Krommenie. During his life he lived and worked mainly in his birthplace Krommenie.

Klaas van Vliet was a student of I. Arentz in Zaandam. In addition to being a painter, he was also a wine merchant, alderman and photographer.
He mainly painted and drew landscapes, mostly with horses.

Klaas van Vliet died at the age of 76 in his birthplace Krommenie. Exhibitions of his work have been held in Amsterdam, Arnhem and The Hague.
