Rudolf Hellebaut, also known as his pseudonym Ebaux, was born in Ghent, Belgium on June 18, 1954.
Hellebaut attended the Academy of Ghent, the Koninklijk Instituut voor Kunstpatrimonium in Brussels and later enrolled at a course for the restoration of pictures in Firenze, Italy.
