About the artist
Victor Spinelli (born 1966) is an American-Italian contemporary artist known for his multidisciplinary practice, which combines photography, painting, sculpture, and large-scale installations. His work operates at the intersection of art, documentation, and visual storytelling, often inspired by his extensive travels and observations of cultures around the world.
Spinelli originally studied architecture at the University of Buffalo. This training formed an important foundation for his later artistic approach: a strong sense of structure, space, and composition. During his travels—now to more than eighty countries—his focus gradually shifted from architecture to visual documentation and artistic interpretation of the environments he visited.
His oeuvre is characterized by a combination of documentary sharpness and artistic imagination. In his photography and installations, Spinelli explores themes of identity, place, history, and human experience. By combining different media, he creates works that are both visually powerful and conceptually layered.
With his international perspective and broad artistic practice, Victor Spinelli has built a recognizable position within contemporary art, in which travel, culture and spatial thinking play a central role.
