    Oilpainting on canvas by Dutch artist Remko Watjer 1911-1989. Studied at the Academie Minerva in Groningen The Netherlands. His teacher was (amongst others) the famous master Jan Altink founder of the De Ploeg movement.
  • About the artist

    Remko Watjer was a Dutch artist from Groningen and a student of painter Jan Altink. Watjer was very active in the art scene of Groningen, painting portraits of influential artists from Groningen in his early figurative period. He is best known for the liveliness of his portraits and his strong use of colour. Watjer spent some time in Paris later in his life where he studied at Académie André Lhote. His work can be seen in the Central Museum in Utrecht. He died in 1989.
