MG9336 Antique Russian Four Field Icon

Central Russian so called ‘four field’ icon. These icons gave the patrons who ordered the icon the possibility to choose which feast and saints they would like to see on the icon. In this case: Top left: The birth of the Virgin, Top right: The Mother of God Joy of all who are suffering. Lower left: From left to right: Saint Vladimir, Archangel Michael and a fool for Christ sake. Lower right: Saint Tatjana, Saint Ekatherina, Saint Anastasia. Mid 19th century. Dimensions: 44,5 x 35,25 cm.
