  • About the artist

Frieda Hunziker was considered a remarkable and progressive artist in the nineteen fifties. She initially taught drawing but in the thirties became a fulltime artist. Her early work is distinguished by a simplified realistic style, but by 1948 it was already completely abstract.
In 1947 Frieda Hunziker had been one of the founders of Vrij Beelden (Free Images), a group that regularly exhibited at the Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam.
