  • About the artist

Martin Coiffier is a multidisciplinary visual artist who lives and works in Brussels. Through his works, he transforms nature and landscapes into poetic visions.

For each of his series, he creates unique processes that bring together different techniques. This prompts viewers to question the true nature of the work.

His work creates reflections on the relationship between reality and the imaginary; the physical and the psychological; the abstract and the figurative; and finally the relationship one maintains with a work of art.

Martin Coiffier's representations of forests are explosions of energy. He photographs the sets himself, which he then reassembles with the computer and paints with acrylic paint. This creates different layers.

Throughout the process, he constantly questions where the boundary lies between photography and painting, and how these two media, through their visual aspect, determine our way of interpreting a work.

He draws his inspiration from romanticism, 19th century engravings, cinema, and contemporary digital creations.
