Reference: vL. 481-2 - Sobre artistaPeter van Abeele foi um medalhista e cunhador holandês, ativo em Amsterdã no século XVII. Van Abeele nasceu em Middelburg, Zeeland. Ele aperfeiçoou a técnica de prensar medalhas vazias. Ele criou os dois lados da medalha separadamente e os combinou com um anel de metal. Suas obras são consideradas as melhores de seu tempo e consistem principalmente em medalhas memoriais e retratos. Eles retratam vários membros da Casa de Orange, Almirante Maarten Tromp, Jan Wolfert van Brederode, Carlos X da Suécia e Carlos II da Inglaterra. Ele também fez medalhas comemorativas pela destruição da frota inglesa e pela paz de 1667, bem como uma mostrando a concessão do brasão de armas à cidade de Amsterdã pelo Conde Guilherme II da Holanda e pelo Imperador Maximiliano I. Ele morreu em Amsterdã em 1684.
