About the artist

Everhardus Koster is a Dutch painter born in The Hague in 1817. He studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in The Hague. Afterwards he moved to Frankfurt am Main to attend the Städelsches Kunstinstitut. When he finished his studies in Frankfurt am Main he moved back to Amsterdam where he became a member of the Royal Academy. From 1858 and 1879 he was the manager of the Paviljoen in Haarlem. Later he worked in The Hague and Dordrecht.

His style is a combination of Romanticism and Hague School. He is known for his beach, sea and river views, but he also made several city views.
