About the artist

Frank Boogaard was born in 1953 in Rotterdam as the second of a family of four children. The artistry was already stimulated during primary and secondary Waldorf years.

Still, it took years of searching to discover how he could translate his inner emotional world into images. At first Frank made wooden sculptures. Only later did Frank Boogaard switch to modeling sculptures in wax and casting in bronze.

When finishing and patinating the bronze, Frank Boogaard strives for total perfection. The patina gives him the opportunity to add an extra dimension to the bronze sculptures with color. Removing imperfections in the bronze takes an incredible amount of welding and polishing work. It literally produces a beautiful 'skin', which is so characteristic of Frank Boogaard's work.

Frank finds his inspiration in the birds and their wing shapes, flight patterns and last but not least their freedom of movement. But his own emotional world is also a permanent source of inspiration in his design.

Frank Boogaard's work has been purchased in the past by companies, institutions, museums and private individuals. He also regularly works on commission and exhibits at home and abroad
