About the artist
Between 1905 and 1910 a sort of changing of the guard took place in the artists' colony. A number of new luminaries settled in Latem. This second generation included the De Smet brothers, Permeke and the artist Guillaume Montobio. Montobio settled in Latem in 1907 and would continue to live there until his death. Montobio did not differ much from the other luminists in his subjects, but his bold sense of color made him unique.
