About the artist

Martí Bofarull (born 1965, Molins de Rei, near Barcelona) is a Spanish painter whose work is rooted in a strong academic tradition while remaining sensitive to light, structure, and atmosphere. As the grandson of the distinguished artist Carme Sala, Bofarull grew up immersed in an intellectually and artistically rigorous environment, where painting was both discipline and daily practice.

From an early age, he received extensive training in classical techniques, developing a deep understanding of geometry, perspective, and composition. His early studies also included plein air painting, fostering a direct and intuitive engagement with landscape and natural light. This combination of academic precision and observational sensitivity continues to define his artistic language.

Bofarull’s work reflects a balance between structure and spontaneity, in which formal clarity supports a quiet, contemplative approach to subject matter. His paintings reveal a sustained dialogue between tradition and personal interpretation, positioning him within a lineage of painters who value craftsmanship, restraint, and enduring visual harmony.
