Louis Martin lives in Belgium in the silence of his studio, where he works on his great "faces", which are created without any technological aids. He achieves the remoteness he seeks by adding a second dimension. By locally raising the canvas, the person depicted loses his identity and becomes, as it were, a new entity. Statement: I want to create images that on the one hand radiate timelessness and on the other hand clearly have their roots in the past. Art should add something, make something visible that would otherwise remain hidden. For me, it is an effective way of interpreting the world.
