  • About the artist

Jim Naughten (born in 1969) is a British visual artist and photographer known for his meticulously staged images in which photography, digital painting techniques, and stereoscopy converge. His work operates at the intersection of science, imagination, and visual experimentation, creating a world that is simultaneously recognizable and alienating.

In his oeuvre, Naughten explores the complex relationship between humans and nature, often with a critical undertone regarding biodiversity loss and ecological disruption. He transforms landscapes, animals, and natural systems into visually powerful compositions, in which bright neon colors and subtle manipulations force the viewer to look differently at what is seemingly self-evident.

His working method is intensive and layered: images are constructed from multiple photographic elements and digitally further developed into almost painterly scenes. By applying techniques such as stereoscopy, he adds an extra dimension to his work, turning depth and perspective into a physical experience.

The result is an intriguing and sometimes disorienting universe in which beauty and unease go hand in hand. Naughten's work invites reflection on the fragile balance between man and nature, and on the role that technology plays in how we perceive and shape that reality.
