Karin van de Walle
- About the artworkThis mixed media sculpture features a handsculpted figure by the artist, combined with an assemblage of vintage objects. The lower part consists of a repurposed teapot and vase, richly decorated with crocheted elements, handmade roses, gold leaf , floral reliefs and contemporary materials such as UV coated recycled PLA.
- About the artist
Karin van de Walle (1964) studied ceramic design at the Sint Joost art academy in Breda.
With her showgirls, nymphs and gargoyle mermaids, Karin van de Walle wants to challenge and seduce the viewer.
The female figures are loud, shrill, idiosyncratic and full of humor. On sky-high heels and in tight-fitting outfits, Venus appears with many faces and dynamic mobility.
The images illustrate a journey through pop culture, myths and history. The detail and the decorative element play an essential role.
Patience is a virtue, and it certainly applies to Karin.
